The Sundering Millennia
VAULT RECORD
Status: Prolonged collapse
Scope: Post‑Shattering Terra
Reliability: High, though continuity degrades over time
The chapters that follow the Shattering do not describe a single catastrophe, but a condition. Terra does not end. It unravels.
In the centuries immediately after the leygrid’s rupture, the world enters a state of sustained instability. No region remains untouched. The broken harmonics manifest unevenly—storms without season, lands that shift overnight, and pockets of wild arcana where natural law no longer holds. What had once been rare anomalies become persistent features of the world.
Conflict continues, but it loses coherence. Vyrnos presses its advantage where it can, refining doctrines shaped by Mangalan influence into systems of governance and war that prize efficiency above all else. Lycéya, driven into desperation, reaches deeper into its oldest harmonic practices, rediscovering arts long set aside. Neither path restores balance. Each merely allows survival within narrowing margins.
Populations migrate in vast, uneven flows. Traditionalists flee Mangalan‑aligned territories, seeking remnants of the old rhythms. Others move in the opposite direction, drawn by promises of order and certainty. Border regions fracture, some declaring fragile independence before being consumed by the pressures surrounding them. Cultural identity becomes fluid, then brittle.
The environment responds with increasing volatility. Forests transform. Rivers alter course. Creatures appear whose forms correspond to no prior taxonomy—beings shaped by misaligned harmonics rather than lineage. The record treats these not as invasions, but as byproducts: symptoms of a world whose internal coherence has been compromised.
Across these millennia, the tone of the surviving accounts shifts. Early records attempt explanation. Later ones abandon it. The muralglyphs grow sparse. Language compresses. The emphasis moves from understanding to endurance. Terra is no longer a world guided by harmony, but one struggling to remember what harmony required.
This section establishes the Cataclysm’s true duration. The fall of Terra is not an event measured in years, but a condition sustained across ages. The world persists—but only by shedding what once defined it.
