Rim adjusted the beret on their dark, royal blue dreadlocks as they sat at the large round table. they rested their chin on their hand, looking around curiously at the others in the room. The most of politicians looked tense, with the Rao's curious glances only making it worse.

"My Rao, you've already.. done so much for Ten'noshima," one of the politicians spoke up, dancing with his words as to not cause offence, "But, this.. it's just too much. We cannot allow this,"

"Why?"

"Well..um..," Rim's short response had caught him off guard. They peered at the politician with innocent curious eyes, like a child, but one as old as time. It was frightening.

"The.. Heart would not approve of such a decision," the politician clicked back. Rim sat up straight in their chair and started to fiddle with the buttons in front of them, their tail flicking slowly.

"Your Heart is holding you back," They looked back at the politician, eyes no longer innocent. "I see just how much potential this city would have without it,"

"Well the heart will always be here,"

"How unfortunate for you,"

I love how Rim’s blend of innocence and intimidation creates such a compelling and unpredictable presence. What exactly is “the Heart,” and why does it hold so much influence over Ten’noshima?

Tysm! This story isn't exactly canon anymore but I'll have to make sure i capture the same innocence when it's time for a rewrite! :33   I still have to write an article about her, but basically the Heart is a supercomputer that was Ten'no's head of state! The idea was to create a ruler that was completely neutral and not influenced by existing bigotries and bias, though really she just became a cover for her "advisors" to further their own goals for the nation :3
